There are two characters known as Jackpot in Marvel Comics. The first, and most recognized, is Sara Ehret. A scientist working for a pharmaceutical company, she was exposed to a virus that activated dormant genes within her, granting her superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes. She initially operated as Jackpot with the support of a mysterious benefactor.

However, Sara eventually sold the Jackpot identity to a young woman named Alley Katniss, a struggling college student who needed the money. Alley lacked Sara's powers, relying instead on performance-enhancing drugs to mimic them. She struggled with addiction as a result, and her recklessness ultimately led to her death.

After Alley's death, Sara reclaimed the Jackpot mantle. Haunted by her past and the consequences of her actions, she became a more responsible and dedicated hero, eventually working alongside Spider-Man and other heroes in New York City.
